Quantitative Short Range Guided Wave
TRAC Energy’s rope access technicians are expertly trained in deploying Quantitative Short Range Guided Wave (QSR) technology as part of our comprehensive offshore inspection regime.
This ultrasonic testing technique is particularly useful detecting corrosion under pipe supports (CUPS) in locations where traditional methods fall short.
Our team use QSR’s short-range guided waves (circumferential or axial) to measure wall thickness at pipe supports, clamps, or saddles.
It is highly accurate, capable of measuring average and minimum wall thickness within ±0.1 mm. This precision is maintained even when measuring painted or coated surfaces, avoiding the need for potentially hazardous removal while working at height.
The fact that the testing equipment is portable and battery-operated makes it easier to work in confined or hard to access platform areas.
TRAC Energy’s rope access teams frequently employ QSR when inspecting pipework beneath platform decks or within intricate jacket structures where corrosion is accelerated by marine environments.
