Ultrasonic Testing

MULTISKIP

Real time data and rapid surveys

MULTISKIP

The Multiskip technique is an advanced ultrasonic method designed for fast, reliable detection of corrosion and material degradation in inaccessible areas – such as beneath pipe and vessel supports.

Using angled shear waves in a pitch-catch setup, two probes scan up to 2 meters apart, with ultrasound signals “skipping” through the material. Any degradation alters the signal arrival times, which are clearly displayed in real-time b-scans for immediate evaluation.

Key Advantages

  • Detects both internal (ID) and external (OD) corrosion
  • No lifting of equipment required
  • Effective on pipe supports, pressure vessels, and subsea pipelines
  • Enables corrosion depth estimation
  • Ideal for rapid screening, followed by focused corrosion mapping if needed.

Multiskip provides a high probability of detection while significantly reducing inspection time, cost, and risk.
